I’m moving to Richmond, Virginia!
I don’t know what I’ll be doing or how long I’ll be there, but it’s sure to be great!
You may ask (like everyone else): why?
And this is my so-far answer: Because I’m young and I still have a lot of growing up to do. And when else in my life can I do something like this?—just get up and go explore an entirely different city. I might dabble in the field of professional waitressing or dog walking. Find a nice yoga studio to continue my new addiction. Buy a bicycle. And drink lots of tea on the river.
I’ve already proved to myself that I have what it takes to get into art school, so if that passion is still there in 6 months then I’ll re-apply—maybe stay in Richmond and go to VCU’s Brandcenter. Or I might find a new city to explore like NYC or Providence. I might decide to forget grad school and launch a career. I really just don’t know yet, but trusting this is the right decision for now.
The best part about all of this is that it’s very unlike me. I’m a serious planner. I like to know my next step far in advance. But when I realized that I was looking for the next step just to have one, that’s when I had to step back and drop everything. It’s not really living if you’re always planning.
Wish me luck!
