15 days, but who's really counting?

no other story but this one
I love to write though very rarely are my words coherent. If you gazed at a few of my journal entries over the past few months, absolutely none of it would make sense to you. But after spending some time doing so this evening, one message stood out to me. Written heavily between the lines of my own scribble, I saw (and heard) this: live each day like it was your last alone with Me. It didn’t...
change is good
New theme—I know, but it feels good. I’ve been wanting to change it for a little while now since I’ve been working with magazines. Even my dreams skim across glossy white pages, sometimes with a titled matte cover. So, why not? It only suits the change in me, maybe. Heck, I might even rearrange all my furniture while I’m in the mood!

broken rings
Just the other night, as I sat reading in bed, Mom brought in a handful of jewelry she’s collected over the years. One piece was a tiny baby bracelet of turquoise opaques. Another was a gold necklace with a pink diamond dangling from an itty bitty chain. Each were presents from her to me when I was just a little girl, but I don’t even remember ever having them in my possession. As she...

red light, green light, red light
A friend once told me that each person’s heart has a divine tendency to grow and learn differently than anyone else’s. According to her, some inherit a story of spiritual growth like being cooked in a microwave, immediately understanding the need for grace and forgiveness. Others grow to learn these lessons to fit their preconceived knowledge—“like being baked in an...
restoration
You know the feeling. The one where your heart feels like a jumbled mess of puzzle pieces. But just one long talk with a good friend seems to put those pieces in an order you may have never thought of. Well, that was what this weekend was like for me. Except I had 2 good friends, and 3 days of talking.
Being the crazy girls we are, we wasted no time with ordinary adventures. We took full...
gentle...men,
After only the beginning of an epic weekend, we found ourselves in a gas station tonight, eating KC bbq (in Western wear, if you want to know), and conversing about all things girls talk about….including you.
And you see, us ladies have been thinking and we have a bone to pick with you. We didn’t want it to come to this (because this post is sure to lose me followers) but we must let...
so dreamy
Ever found yourself waking up, only to leave behind the most incredible dream? One that feels more real than the pillow beneath your head?
Me too.
I even drove the wrong way for two blocks down a one-way street today, and missed my exit—twice, replaying it in my head.
pray without ceasing
I am writing in hopes that you will left up our friend Wyatt Mitchell in prayer. You may or may not have heard but on Sunday, he felt pain in his chest and went to the doctor to find out that masses have grown on his lungs and other parts of his body. They seem to be cancerous. He is now trying to figure out what the next steps/treatment will be with his doctors in Albany and Houston. Lets pray...

I leave to go to Kansas City tomorrow night with Maggie and I couldn’t be more excited. We’re going to visit Feder and she has decided to make our weekend full of surprises like a week at summer camp. She is even including a packing list (which you should probably send sometime today feeds) so we…

what joy shall fill my heart
Just over a week ago at Frontier Ranch, my dear high school friend Lauren asked God to be the center of her life. The way she fell in love with Him that week was everything gentle and romantic. A girl with so many questions just a year and a half ago, she sat with me on a bench near the edge of camp, and we prayed that simple but extravagant prayer.
And after talking to her on the phone tonight,...
She turned to me and whispered, ‘don’t you just love it when you get...

hallelujah
Back home at cottage 117 B, we confirm any victories (big or small) with three simple words: “house of success!” Well though I’m far away from our tiny cottage, don’t doubt that I am shouting those favorite words and pumping my fists in the air! Today was by far the first day I felt confident and successful at my internship! You might call it luck (because everything...
lordy, lord
July is beginning to fold in half, and summer is nearing its last leg. And with each day, I am missing my Athens home more and more. I am ready to spend endless hours bouncing between shaded porches and begin a brand new year of mischievous no good. But Lord, help me not to wish this summer away.
Sometimes I think I could and should stay in KC for a bit longer, afraid that I won’t grow like...
