A glimpse into my life...: L to the Fed. →
Dear Laura a.k.a. “Plum Nellie: oh, just a little girl with a toothy smile, sunset freckles, and buggy eyes for seeing this big, big world”.
I can’t begin to tell you how much I loveddddd and needed that visit from you. Though the drive from UGA was probably a long one, I just want to let you…

a girl & her puzzle
There once was a little girl who loved a puzzle.
She never quite questioned her odd desire, but just knew that this one puzzle had captured her childish heart.
She found pieces to this puzzle everywhere.
At school.
On the playground.
In her home.
In her Sunday school class.
Some pieces were bigger and some were smaller. Some were beautiful and intricately designed, but others were plain...
a letter from my grandparents
Our dearest Laura,
We wish you well & good studies abroad.
You will turn 21 either there or as you return. A monumental turning point in life. Live life well. Everyday.
Enjoy the differences in Australia. It will be “upside down” winter there.
I’m sure you plan for this trip to look good on your resumes. Keep a good portfolio of your photos. You never know where to...

April 23rd, 2010
The sun woke me up in my cloud of white linens and down.
After coffee and a pretty breakfast, Grandma and I grabbed a large golf umbrella to brave the Carolina rain.
We then dropped by Jim Dodson’s office (editor of the Pine Straw Magazine) to talk journalism.
Grandma convinced him to join us for sweet tea, yellow bell pepper soup, and ham sandwiches at Sweet Basil’s cafe.
We...
In the Middle of the Night
dearoldlove:
There is no one I’d rather be up in the middle of the night with than you.
Oh, Carolina
Yesterday, I spent 6 hours chasing the rain home to North Carolina. After crossing the state-line, a great relief fell all over me. This is where I’m from. These are my roots. And that was just it….this is where I belong.
The sky is a different color in North Carolina, and even the wind and the rain are a different shade of rainbow. It always amazes me how just one road and several...
leaving on a jet plane
My summer plans are set and now I’m just counting down the days! On May 8th I will be traveling down under to Australia for a Maymester in photography! After spending a month on the sunshine coast of the Great Barrier Reef, I will jet off again to the land of Kansas City! I have recently been accepted for an internship with Anthem Publishing. There, I will be soaking up the city with a...
silly girl, give it up
give it all up
it’s not yours to worry about
give it to me, silly girl
your weakness is beautiful
your heart is faint
but, I am strong
I know you love me sweet child,
but do you know I love you?
I think I would like a secret admirer.
silk of a soul
Never did I speak with her either about love or about death
only blind taste and mute touch used to run between us when absorbed in ourselves, we lay close
I must peek inside her to see what she wears at her centre
when she slept with her lips open, I peeked
and what, and what would you think I caught sight of
I was expecting branches, I was expecting a bird, I was expecting a house by a lake...
out-of-state
Carolina,
Don’t miss me too much this weekend. I know we always spend Easter (and every other holiday) together, but I’m safe in the arms of Roswell, Georgia this holiday. You can be jealous for me; I’d be upset if you weren’t. But don’t worry, I’ll be home soon. For now I’m just going to enjoy being an out-of-state college kid, who just can’t make...
