if only you knew...you'd be that girl too
You know those girls who just love being one of the guys? You almost always know where to find her—kickin’ back at the boys’ crib, playing (dominating) Mario Kart. She loves movies like “Talladega Nights” and “Fight Club”. And come game day, she’s ready to paint up along side all of them. Well, that’s me.
Last week someone made a comment that...

I haven’t been very close to Jesus lately. There have been several big questions on my plate that I’ve been dreading to ask Him. Driving home from the library last night, I finally admitted to Him that I just don’t trust His voice. I’m afraid to not hear an answer I would have wanted, or worse I’m afraid I won’t hear Him at all.
After crawling in bed and...
tumble and fall!
I smell pumpkin seeds roasting in the oven. I hear the whoooosh of wool socks sliding along our hardwood floors. Staying beneath my warm down comforter has become my top priority. And I just received a large box of my mother’s homemade pumpkin chocolate chip cookies in the mail—must be fall!
and i'm back!
For those of you who didn’t know, I spent this past weekend road tripin’ to Richmond, Virginia. On the way, Christine (my co-pilot) and I stopped in Raleigh, North Carolina to see my high school besties, including the lovely engaged Andrea.
A few weeks ago I had a mental breakdown about Andrea, and that her getting married meant we would never have sleepovers anymore. Selfish, I know,...

i am two tip toes
knees with scars
backporch at the sea shore
and tobacco colored guitars

my heart finds solace
in a flannel shirt
a rough patched chin
and a smudge glass door
fingers tapping out a song
the hollow sound of our metal sink
keeping rhythm our shoeless...

My mother always tells me that when life gets stiff and a bit uninteresting to just keep focused on the now. Soon everything will begin to change whether you’re ready or not. Well, speaking of interesting and change, both words can slightly describe my life at the moment.
As I have already mentioned (a few times), my best friend Andrea from North Carolina got engaged on Saturday night!...
"You know you're in love when you can't fall...
I’ve been worried that Andrea hasn’t slept since Friday night. When telling me that she had never understood the word ‘surreal’ until now, she admitted to not having slept since Brandon woke her up Saturday morning. But I was put at ease last night, when she ignored all my phone calls because she had finally fallen asleep.
andrea's engaged!
This morning I woke up to five missed calls from my best friend Andrea, all between the hours of 2 and 9 p.m. And the big news was—Brandon proposed! Screaming, crying and praying all day, today has been surreal. I’ve never been in a wedding, but over night I became a maid of honor. The next several months will be a process of serving and caring for one of the people I love most in...
